The lightweight, easy-to-repair umbilical cable includes one kink-free sample line, 3 kink-resistant polyethylene lines (2 pitot and 1 Orsat line), 6 type-K thermocouple extensions, and five conductor electrical cable with 4-pin circular connectors. 

Split Umbilical Cables

Split Umbilical Cables are designed for added versatility for use in rigid and flexible configurations. They are constructed with the sample line and exit thermocouple split to the specified length. Split umbilicals are used in flexible systems where the filter compartment is separated from the impinger box with a flexible sample line as in Method 17, Flexible Method 5 and Compact Method 5 configurations.

A riser is required for attaching the impinger case to the SB-2M for rigid arrangements. Apex offers risers with different features and configurations. Sample case risers attach to the base of the filter oven for test methods requiring extra height between the filter outlet and the first impinger.

Standard Method 5 Probes

Apex Instruments Standard Method 5 Heated Probe - Isokinetic Sampling

The Apex Instruments Standard Method 5 Heated Probe features a 1-inch diameter sheath constructed from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, modular 3/8-inch pitot tip, 1/4-inch stainless steel quick connects, type-K thermocouples for stack and probe temperature, probe heater, orsat line, and a small parts package. Standard lengths are 3 feet to 16 feet. Probes are ordered according to nominal (liner length). 

Oversheath Probes

Apex Instruments - isokinetic probes with an oversheath provide additional support.

Our isokinetic probes with an oversheath provide additional support to stabilize the probe during sampling operations. The oversheath also allows the addition of a packing gland to achieve a tight seal between the probe and port. Our oversheath probes measure 2 inches in diameter and are used for Method 5 sampling.
